Shot On Pinwheel Summer Photo Contest

Written by Gabe Ruiz | Aug 8, 2024 10:55:30 PM

This summer, Pinwheel invited families to capture and celebrate the vibrant moments that define the season through our 2024 Summer 'Shot-On-Pinwheel' Photo Contest. The response was nothing short of incredible, with submissions pouring in from across the globe, each showcasing the unique perspectives and creativity of our young photographers.

The contest was divided into five exciting categories: Architecture, Food, Nature, Travel, and Pets. Each category highlighted different aspects of life through the lens of Pinwheel’s kid-friendly smartphones, which are designed to encourage healthy tech habits while fostering creativity.

After much deliberation, our panel of judges—comprising of the Pinwheel team—selected the winners based on creativity, composition, and the ability to tell a story.

And the Winners Are...

Architecture:

Pinwheel Phone: Pixel 7a
Title: "The beauty of a lighthouse"
Description: “This is a photo of an old lighthouse on Vashon Island, WA, I took this on a pixel 7a”

Food:

Pinwheel Phone: Pinwheel Plus
Title: "An apple a day"
Description: I thought it would be a fun idea to photograph a set up of pouring apple juice with a plate of apples.

Nature:

Pinwheel Phone: Pinwheel Plus
Title: "Beach Foam"
Description: This is a picture I took at Salisbury Beach. I wanted to capture the sunset and how detailed the foam from the water was. I thought that it was cool how the foam looked a little like moving water. And in the background, you can see the waves crashing. (The waves were small that day.)

Travel:

Pinwheel Phone: Pinwheel Pixel 7a
Title: "Road Less Traveled"
Description: This picture shows the Bodie Island lighthouse standing tall and strong, kind of like it's watching over everything. The white Jeep in front of it makes it look like a cool adventure, where nature and exploring come together in this really awesome place.

Pets:

Pinwheel Phone: Pinwheel Plus
Title: "Snakes and notes"
Description: This is my pet snake, King Peaches. I like this photo because it's in my backyard and I really like how it came out with him in focus and the back a little bit blurred. I'm really proud of this photo!

Honorable Mentions

While these were our top winners, we also received numerous other submissions that deserve recognition. Each photo told a unique story, reflecting the creativity and joy that Pinwheel phones aim to inspire.
