If you’ve been looking for ChatGPT for kids, you may already know us as PinwheelGPT. Today, we’re excited to tell you about a new name: PinwheelAsk.
PinwheelAsk is the same kid-friendly AI chat you’ve trusted as PinwheelGPT, now improved and with a name that says exactly what it does. Your child asks. PinwheelAsk answers.
When we launched PinwheelGPT, “GPT” was a natural fit. Many parents were searching for a kids GPT or a child GPT app, and it helped them understand how the app worked. But the name has stopped fitting for two reasons:
1. “GPT” doesn’t describe what makes this app great for kids. Parents don’t choose a kids chat GPT because of the technology under the hood. They choose it for the kid-friendly experience: short, easy-to-understand answers, built-in guardrails, and visibility for parents. “Ask” says it better.
2. PinwheelAsk has updated its models for more accurate and safer answers. As the technology has evolved, we’ve built a better experience for kids, and a name tied to one model family no longer tells the whole story.
Kids are naturally curious. They want to know why the sky is blue, how volcanoes work, and what a black hole is. For most families, the default answer is “just look it up,” which means handing over a web browser and access to the whole internet, which is very hard to filter.
PinwheelAsk gives kids a better option. They can ask questions and get factual, age-appropriate answers on almost any topic, without a browser and without the open internet.
PinwheelAsk is an improved version of PinwheelGPT, and everything parents loved is still part of it:
If you’ve searched for “chat GPT for kids” or “kids ChatGPT,” you’ve probably noticed how many options are really adult tools with a warning label attached. PinwheelAsk was built for children from the start, with answers written for kids, safeguards for sensitive topics, and parent oversight built in.
Every child gets 20 conversations per month free. After that, a small monthly fee unlocks unlimited access.
